Cynthia Brown, ARNP
Nurse Practitioner

Born in Asheville, North Carolina, Cynthia Brown moved to San Francisco with her family on her 11th birthday – an event, she says, which set her apart from her family since she’s now the only one without a Southern accent.

At an early age, Cynthia exhibited great maturity. Rather than crying when she had to get two stitches in her ankle, she was so calm that she fell asleep, much to the amazement of her pediatrician.

She returned to the East Coast to attend Wesleyan University, where she received her BA in English and African American Studies, and Yale University School of Nursing, where she earned her Master’s degree.

Cynthia worked first as a student nurse and then as a staff nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital before moving to Seattle and joining the OBCC staff in 1998. And she’s been here ever since, taking great pleasure in watching the children she cares for grow and develop.

Cynthia would love to get a dog – a Brittany Spaniel – but her allergies won’t allow it. She’s not too fond of gardening (because of the bugs), but she’s a big basketball fan.

Cynthia’s enthusiasm for improving the lives of children has been with her all her life. In fact, her first job was teaching study skills, math and French to inner-city middle school children in a summer program.
