Ken Feldman, MD
Pediatrician
One of Odessa Brown’s longest tenured practitioners, Ken Feldman has worked with children for most of his life. His first job, in fact, was as a Boy Scouts camp counselor.
Born and raised in Janesville, a small Wisconsin farming town, Ken’s earliest memory of a doctor’s office was picking up marbles with his toes off a hard tile floor to correct a condition called “in-toeing.”
In his third year of medical school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ken decided to become a pediatrician. He would migrate to Seattle to complete his internship and residency at University of Washington and Children’s Orthopedic Hospital.
Ken first came to Odessa Brown in 1971 when his draft board asked him to leave his pediatric residency to complete his alternative service as a conscientious objector during the Vietnam War. At the time he started, the only other physician at Odessa Brown was Dr. Blanche Lavizzo, its first medical director. By 1974, Ken had returned to Seattle, completed his residency and entered practice at Odessa Brown Clinic. And he’s remained here ever since.
Ken is a longtime advocate for children. In 1991 he received the American Academy of Pediatrics Practitioner Research Award for his work on tap water burns in children, and in 2003 he received the prestigious Lee Ann Miller Award, presented annually by the Washington Children's Justice Conference to the individual who has made the greatest impact and/or contribution in furthering children’s justice. Ken is the namesake for Children’s Hospital’s Diversity Award.
Ken and his wife, Jane Ann, have two grown children, George and Kate, and a grandson, Theo. In his free time Ken enjoys camping, climbing, biking, kayaking, and attending symphony and opera performances.
