Linda Murfeldt
Certified Nutritionist, MS, CN, MEd

Linda has spent her adult life improving the lives of others, whether teaching high school or heading a well-known non-profit group, and has continued her good works since joining Odessa Brown in May 2006.

After growing up in a rural area near Pittsburgh, Linda earned a Bachelor degree in biology and secondary education Washington University in St. Louis before earning her Master’s in Education from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.

Linda taught ninth grade biology and eighth grade earth science in an inner-ring suburban Detroit school, later teaching seventh grade life science in Minnesota. When Minnesota decided to build a state zoological garden, she worked as an animal records keeper, helping to begin an inventory of endangered animals worldwide.

Her volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity led to a position as director of programs and services at the Twin Cities, Minnesota, branch. Eventually, Linda became the executive director of Habitat for Humanity in Seattle, a position she held for four years.

Linda went back to school to earn her Master’s degree in nutrition from Bastyr University. Now a certified nutritionist, Linda ensures that many of Odessa Brown’s patients learn about and practice healthy eating habits – one of the most important ways to maintain good overall health throughout their lifetimes.

In her spare time, Linda enjoys hiking in the mountains, gardening, kayaking and reading. She and her husband, John, have two grown children, Krista and Ryan.

Linda appreciates the great diversity of staff and patients that are a part of OBCC, and thrives on the encouragement to try new things to build a better nutrition program here.
