Rosie Moore
Mental Health Counselor

Her experiences growing up in an immigrant neighborhood in Middletown, New York, set Rosie on her career path.

"I would often be asked to help the neighbors with translations and under-standing what the teachers were asking," Rosie recalls.

It also helped to have parents who instilled in her the values of honesty and hard work. She was an excellent employee at Dunkin Donuts, her first real job.

After graduating from Middletown High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Mercy College in New York and a Master of Education degree from Seattle University.

From there, she worked as a drug and alcohol counselor and school-based mental health counselor.
Her desire to work for a more diverse organization led her to Odessa Brown and the Garfield/Nova Teen Health Clinic in 1999. The best things about working for the high school-based clinic that is affiliated with OBCC are the kids, the families, the diverse staff and the caring environment, she says.

When Rosie isn’t working, she likes to read, walk, travel, kayak and hike (she has even climbed Mt. Rainier). She and her husband, Rick, have three grown daughters – Daniella, Joanna and Siena – and a yellow lab, Layla.
