Working hand in hand with the families who entrust their children to our care, we join with nonprofit organizations, civic groups, health care facilities, government agencies, businesses and other community partners to help our families overcome health challenges and improve their lives.
Medical-Legal Partnership for Children
The Medical-Legal Partnership for Children (MLPC) is a new program that brings together medical providers, social workers, and lawyers to address the unmet legal needs of patients and families. MLPC has a full-time lawyer who can provide free legal assistance to most families. Also, MLPC trains medical providers and social workers about the legal and advocacy needs of patients and families. All the services are free and are provided in a safe, confidential environment.
Legal areas MLPC may be able to assist patients/families with include:
Housing
(for example: The condition of your housing makes your child’s asthma worse)
Public Benefits
(for example: Your government benefits, like food stamps, were terminated)
Education
(for example: Your child has special needs and the school is not addressing them)
MLPC can also assist with issues not listed above, so if YOU think you have a problem that may require legal assistance, please ask to speak to Seema Mhatre, the clinic social worker.

Strong Kids/Strong Teens
We want to help all families be as healthy as possible! A partnership between OBCC, Seattle Children's Hospital and the YMCA is part of this effort. The 18-week “Strong Kids, Strong Teens” program combines nutrition guidance and physical activity to help overweight youth aged 8-14 develop healthy lifestyles. Program highlights:
• Youth (8-11) and teens (12-14) take part in separate programs.
• Parents participate with their children.
• There are two 90-minute sessions per week for 12 weeks, plus a single weekly session for an additional 6 weeks.
• Families must have a referral from a medical provider (just call us!)
• Financial assistance IS available!
