Odessa Brown Children's Clinic
A leader and partner in our community

It's a phrase that has become a bit overused: It takes a village to raise a child. But, at Odessa Brown, we take that proverb to heart.

Compatible missions make long and fruitful partnership

Willie Austin is a former Husky football player and champion power lifter who found his purpose working with kids and "transforming lives through fitness."

Odessa Brown was an African-American girl growing up during the Depression who found her purpose when a Chicago hospital refused to treat her.

Willie started the non-profit Austin Foundation, which provides fitness training and health education to Seattle-area youth.

Odessa started a children's clinic that, in addition to providing quality pediatric care, educates and advocates for the "optimal well-being of children and families."

"Our missions are a great match," says Willie of the fruitful 10-year partnership his organization has enjoyed with the Odessa Brown Children's Clinic.

The clinic refers families to the foundation and visa versa, and both extend their reach.

"Willie's commitment to promoting physical activity and bettering the health of the community is an inspiration to us all!" says the clinic's Dr. Lenna Liu.

With the help of Odessa Brown and his other partners, Willie hopes to transform as many lives as he can. "If you can affect someone and it's true and beneficial, they can't help but pass it on to someone else," he says.
