“It’s not just medical care,” says Odessa Brown mom
Mayet Dalila’s son, Olu, likes Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic so much he actually asks to go to the doctor’s.
The 3-year-old has been a patient there since birth, receiving his well-child checks, immunizations and medical care. This year, he started receiving dental care there as well.
His mom and dad, meanwhile, have taken advantage of Odessa Brown’s many services, including its car seat program, parenting classes, Wee Walk parent-child event and a nutritionist-guided tour down the grocery aisles.
“It’s not just medical care,” says Mayet. “You’re part of the Odessa Brown community. They offer so much and make it so accessible.
An older first-time mom, Mayet appreciates that her pediatrician, Dr. Ben Danielson, never makes her feel “stupid or over protective”.
“You feel respected and supported, like you’re the only patient they have,” she says.
She also appreciates the diverse clientele and the equally diverse staff of nurses, dentists, doctors and health-care professionals.
“Olu can see himself reflected in a variety of positions,” she says.
Who knows? Olu may decide he wants to work at Odessa Brown when he grows up.
Then he could go to the doctor’s every day.
